Little else compares to the name of Yves Saint Laurent in the fashion world, who in the 1960’s carved a spot for himself in the hearts of women with figure-accentuating little back dresses and leg-lengthening chic stilettos.

If you’ve always wondered what goes on behind the genius of his designs, a special photo exhibition showcasing exactly that is coming to Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition, to be held at Galerie Petronas as part of Le French Festival 2016, encompasses 49 photos by French photographer Pierre Boulat who was there with Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé at their first fashion show in 1961. He captured the 5 weeks he spent with the duo in photos, immortalising the creativity, focus and passion of the designer at work.

This includes never before seen photos of Saint Laurent adjusting the final details of his show backstage, stolen moments during his drawing sessions and times when he was seen just quietly working on his own, giving us a glimpse into his mind in practice.

Having maintained a close relationship with the designer throughout the years, Boulat got unlimited access not only backstage, but also into the closed doors of the designer’s Paris home.

Immerse yourself into this exclusive collection of photos at Galerie Petronas, Suria KLCC from June 1 – 25. The gallery is open everyday except Mondays and admission is free.

For more of all things Saint Laurent, two more museums dedicated to the designer are set to open in 2017.
