Going toe to toe with its closest German competitor, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has pulled the covers off of its newest C-Class variant -- the C350e. The locally assembled plug-in hybrid joins the ranks of the S400h and the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid as Mercedes-Benz’s three offerings of hybrid vehicles available here.

Currently available in the Avantgarde trim, with the AMG to come at a later date, the C350e runs on a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, but boosted by an electric motor powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery.

The combination alternate and work seamlessly to give the car enough power to go from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h, but also a fuel consumption of 2.1 litres per 100km.

In all electric mode, the C350e is capable of driving up to 31km on a full charge. The car can be charged fully from any electrical socket with a charge time of over 2 hours. Buyers however, have the option of purchasing a wallbox charger from Mercedes-Benz, which reduces the charge time to around 1 hour 45 minutes.

Prices for the C350e Avantgarde start at RM289,888.
