Chinese New Year is just around the corner and we've prepared an extensive list of places with great festive promotions for you to take advantage of. 1. Shang Palace

This established eatery will offer CNY specialities in either an a la carte menu or five set menus, with set menu prices ranging  from RM239 per person to RM4,998 for a table of 10.

Standouts include poon choy, poached chicken with lemon grass and supreme soy sauce, as well as braised bird's nest soup with lobster meat.

2. Dancing Fish

Have Indonesian cuisine instead this CNY at Dancing Fish with two set menus made for either 4 to 6 people or a party of 8 to 10. Diners can indulge in dishes like fresh water prawns with spicy pineapple gulai and the restaurant's signature dancing fried fish.

Prices for the set menu are RM428 and RM788 for the smaller and larger party sizes respectively.

3. Lai Po Heen

Mandarin Oriental, our Best Hotel Restaurant of 2018, will be serving set menus that focuses on classic Malaysian Cantonese dishes from now until March 2. From wok fried lobster with lime and salted egg yolk paste to roasted chicken wing with linseed and wild mushroom stuffing, you're sure to be pleased.

The restaurant will be serving three set menus this Chinese New Year: Fortune, Prosperity and Wealth priced at RM288, RM388 and RM488 per person respectively.

4. Shanghai (non-halal)

JW Mariott's Shanghainese restaurant celebrates the new year with luxury yee sang, offering abalone, jellyfish, salmon, lobster, geoduck, fresh fruits or even vegetarian ham options.

The restaurant also offers three set menus, starting from RM288 per person and featuring dishes like steamed cod with chinese ham, honey and supreme stock, braised Spanish pork with pine nuts and vegetables and traditional rice with Chinese waxed meats.

Those who want to curate their own meal can also do so from an a la carte menu.

5. Fa Ying

Smoked duck in red curry with pineapple? Fried grouper with som tam dipping sauce? Enjoy CNY specials at Fa Ying this festive season with Chinese influenced Thai dishes.

Available from January 16 to February 28, the restaurant will also be having a prosperity set menu for 6 to 8 diners priced at RM268 nett.

6. Five Sen5es

Westin KL's Chinese eatery offers a festive special a la carte menu and three set menus that include highlights such as a flavourful braised duck with red yeast rice and deep fried prawn with hawthorn sauce topped with osmanthus. You can read our highlights with the meal in our review.

Set menu prices range from RM1,888 to RM2,288 for a table of 10 and yee sang choices include either Norwegian salmon or abalone.

Grand Millennium's yee sang combines soft shell crab, abalone, smoked duck, jellyfish and peanuts for one extravagant mix.

For a happy reunion feast, the restaurant offers a set menu for a table of 10 (priced at RM1,988) that will include double-boiled dried scallop soup, whole suckling pig, stewed dried seafood with black moss and more.

8. The St Regis Kuala Lumpur

Modern Chinese New Year cuisine takes centre stage at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur's.

Start with a salad inspired yee sang, move on to stir-fried prawn and pan-seared dried shrimp cake and end with chilled pao sum tea, snow fungus with gingko and crispy sweet potato "nin gou".

10. Wan Chun Ting

This newcomer at Sofitel Damansara will be serving festive foods in an a la carte menu or with three set menus starting from RM2,188 to RM2,588 nett.

This creative Bangsar restaurant is serving an extensive list of CNY eats from now until March 8. Expect dishes like Dom Perignon yee sang, boston lobster with salted egg and cheese, steamed duck with ginger, drunken river prawns and more.

They will also be serving 11 different set menus, from a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 10, starting from RM138 per person to RM3888 per table.

12. Zuan Yuan

Dine at Zuan Yuan this festive period (until March 2) with one of their three set menus and receive a free bottle of wine, or box of Pu Er tea, to enjoy with your meal.

Priced at RM1738, RM1988 and RM2218 nett for a table of 10, each set starts with a refreshing platter of fruit yee sang, followed by customary dishes such as braised seafood soup with fish roe and dried scallop and money bag with superior oyster sauce, among others.

13. Toh Yuen Chinese Restaurant

Toh Yuen in Hilton PJ promises a seafood celebration this CNY, with dishes like steamed live tiger groupa, deep fried crispy aromatic duck and 10 head abalone being some of the dishes to fulfill that promise.

The restaurant will be serving three 9-course set menus for 10 pax and is available now until March 2.

14. Nobu Kuala Lumpur

Well known Japanese Peruvian eatery Nobu is also serving up CNY eats, with a prosperity platter that includes salmon, white fish, carrots, jicama, beetroot and myoga at RM188++.

The restaurant also has a premium version at RM288++, boasting more expensive servings of fish such as baby snapper. To cool things off at the end of the meal, there's a chocolate mandarin dessert with a creamy chocolate mousse and yuzu curd centre.

15. Tao Chinese Cuisine

Another well-known spot downtown for Chinese food, Tao has three set menus starting from RM1,988 to RM2,688 nett for a table of 10.

Wok-fried tiger prawns with kam heong buttermilk sauce, steamed eight treasure glutinous rice and roasted duck with chinese herbs are just some of the many dishes on available during the festive period.

Award-winning Cantonese restaurant welcomes the Year of the Dog for four days only from February 15 to 18 for both lunch and dinner, each with their own menus.

Notable dishes include braised pork knuckle with dried oysters, sea moss and barbecued crispy suckling pig and deep fried prawns with salt and pepper, and seasonal dim sum offerings.

Diners can select different menus for lunch, priced at RM1,388 nett, and dinner, RM1,888 nett, for a table of 10.

17. Tamarind Hill

This secluded gem shifts your focus away from the hustle of city life to a relaxing ambiance in style.

From now until march 2, diners can break away from having Chinese cuisine and instead enjoy dishes like steamed seabass with ginger and herb, yellow mee sua with dried shiitake and roasted duck with basil a la Thai.

Another twist on the list, have yourself a pork-filled celebration with El Cerdo's slow cooked smoked pork belly rib with garlic mash, pineapple compote and "lo hon zai" at RM88 nett.

Wash it down with an oriental take on sangria, made with rose wine, gin cointreau, pineapple puree and mandarin orange juice. For those who want yee sang, the restuarant will also be serving a salmon version.
