Zainah Anwar and French Ambassador, HE Martine Dorance

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, Zainah Anwar, co-founder of Sisters in Islam received the Chevalier De La Legion D'Honneur title from the French Government - the oldest and highest honour of the country.

Representing the French Government, the French ambassador HE Martine Dorance awarded this prestigious title to Zainah Anwar for her efforts in promoting equality in Muslim families and empowering Muslim women.

Among Malaysia’s most successful and influential women including Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Dato’ Zaha Rina Zahari and Datin Mina Cheah-Foong were there to witness this important ceremony.
