If you're wondering how to create your very own signature look or are looking to buy your first house, we've got you covered. Also included, the burning question of who is Professor Proper?

A supposed expert on fashion and etiquette, Professor Proper does not think he is Mr Know-It-All. He knows that he knows, and has the answer to life’s toughest question, be it in matching the right scarf with your dress or (the ever perplexing) what to have for lunch. In this new column, expect Professor Proper to say anything but “I don’t know”.

Finding your signature style style.jpg(source)

How do I develop a signature style? If people like Wak Doyok can do it, I’m sure I can too!

Keep repeatedly doing or wearing a certain quirky item. For Mr Doyok, it's his facial hair, paired with his dapper sense and suits. It just depends on how you want to brand yourself, and then keep enforcing that image of you.

Want to seem like a hip hop artist, pay attention to Kanye West and his Yeezy movement. Show up everywhere donning a hoodie, jogger pants, snap backs and high-tops; and that guarantees people would notice your style and associate it with you. They may also think you're an idiot to wear parkas in our hot weather, but hey, that's your signature. Want your style to be that of a high-flying businessman? Get a number of suits, and be spotted everywhere in one, including the mall on weekends.

Go crazy (some people may think you are as well) but keep doing/wearing what you want as your signature style, and voila! While you're at it, don't forget to capture all the #ootd shots you can for Instagram.

First house

I am finally earning a steady income and I think it’s time to move out of my parent’s place but I can’t decide if I should get an apartment or a landed property. How do I make the right decision?

It mainly depends on your disposable income and what you're looking for. If it's just a place to store your things and sleep, because you'll probably be out most of the time, maybe a landed property would be the more cost efficient choice.

Apartments have maintenance fees and such but work well if you're looking for amenities like a gym or swimming pool. Do you also have pets, or want to in the near future? Are you about to start a family of your own? How big a space would you require? These are the questions you would need to ask yourself before your big purchase.

If you're looking for a long term investment plan with your property purchase, read up on some buying tips here.

Who are you?

I must say I really look forward to reading your column but I have one question. Why is your name Professor Proper? Are you a lady or lad-y? Sorry, I just had to ask.

What do I sound like to you? Are you sure you enjoy reading my column? Have you not seen the lovely drawings of my fabulous self!? Though then again, we can never really tell. I could be a little four-year-old whiz-kid, a 75-year-old tech-savvy grandpa, the digital editor of Malaysia Tatler, a man, a lady, a goat, your mother's cat, does any of it really matter?

Just give me some tough questions to answer already! I've been dismayed by the problems that readers of Tatler face, except for the one or two, who seemed to have legit reasons to be worried. The rest of you seem to be living rather good lives, or are just too afraid to reach out to me. Hmm...

And now, will the good girls and the bad girls of Kuala Lumpur please stand up?
