From feeding the poor to managing world-class ecotourism destination, get to know this year’s winners of the annual Malaysia Tatler Awards.

Every year, deserving individuals are carefully handpicked to win the prestigious accolades at the Tatler Ball for their contributions to society, outstanding achievements in business and sartorial significance.

The awards presented this year include Diamond of Excellence, Entrepreneur Par Excellence, Most Stylish WomanForce for Good and Couple of the Year. And the big winners were Dato’ Robert Geneid, Bryan Loo, Datin Sabrena Dani, Munirah Abdul Hamid and Dato’ Eric Ong & Datin Kate Ong.


Diamond of Excellence – Dato’ Robert Geneid

Dato’ Robert Geneid, the managing director of Borsarmulu Resort Sdn Bhd and owner of Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, has found a way to straddle his love for nature and property development with perfection. He is entirely dedicated to  making Mulu a world-class ecotourism destination, rivalling the Amazon. Together with wife Datuk Raziah Mahmud-Geneid, the humble man takes great pleasure being a family man.


Entrepreneur Par Excellence – Bryan Loo

This young entrepreneur will always be remembered as the man who brought Taiwanese beverage brand Chatime to Malaysia and making it a raging success. Thanks to his business acumen, Chatime is the fastest growing beverage brand in the country and it’s still something people can’t get enough of. The biotech degree holder credits his achievements to the support of his parents and wife in his acceptance speech. He was recently approached by CNN for a face-to-face interview.


Most Stylish Woman – Datin Sabrena Dani

The wife of Datuk Md Wira Dani Daim, Datin Sabrena Dani is a deserving winner for the Most Stylish Woman award this year.  The mother of one is a health buff and always believes in looking her best. In her speech, she mentioned about what a special month it has been with her husband’s birthday, their daughter turning one and receiving this award. Datin Sabrena looked like a million dollars in her old Hollywood glamour InnaiRed dress, complemented with breathtaking, Liz Taylor-esque jewellery.


Force for Good – Munirah Abdul Hamid

As one of the founders of Pertiwi Soup Kitchen and the spine of this charitable outfit founded in 2010, Munirah Abdul Hamid diligently goes out four times a week to feed the homeless and hardcore poor around Kuala Lumpur. Munirah is no novice when it comes to charity work, having selfless dedicated herself to helping those in need since she was 17. Munirah is also the co-founder of Neuramatix Sdn Bhd, which focuses on neural technologies, robotics and big data. She is also the Executive Director and co-founder of Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad. 

Munirah was moved to tears upon finding out that she was a part of the night's big surprise when she was presented with a cheque worth RM60,000 through donations raised by the Managing Director of Edipresse Media Malaysia, Florence Fang.


Couple of the Year – Dato’ Eric Ong & Datin Kate Ong

Dato’ Eric Ong – the Executive Director of KIP Group, and Datin Kate Ong have been married for 30 years and they are the proud parents to three lovely children. The head of the KIP Group in his acceptance speech said: “Kate and I stood on a different stage exactly 30 years ago to get married and today, we are taking home the Couple of the Year award. We couldn’t be happier.”
