Scarab beetles, the hissing creepy crawlies with iridescent hard shells once held sacred by the Pharaohs of Egypt, are the last thing women might see as beautiful, what more wear as a beauty and fashion accessory.

Christian Louboutin is changing the game for the beetles with its latest limited edition nail polish collection, inspired by their very shells.

True to the brand’s daredevil nature, its latest Scarabée Nail Color Collection draws inspiration from the beetles’ to present 3 shades that the designer himself describes as offering a reflective look under bright sunlight and a jewel-tone effect at night. 

They are really quite gorgeous, painting on to a golden pink colour, a royal violet blue and a majestic green and metallic bronze. 

The bottles remain the same Louboutin-style jewel-shaped bottle with a pointed cap but its outer packaging  sees a new soft touch matte carbon material with a cute cutout window and a gold scarab design.  

The polishes are priced at $50 (around RM185) each.
