Irena Adam

Malaysia Tatler resident makeup artist, Irena Adam, tells that one can't go wrong with classic old Hollywood glamour of nude eyes and bold red lip.

We are only one sleep away from our much anticipated Malaysia Tatler 25th Anniversary Ball. If you've got your gown ready and jewellery polished, the only thing left to think about is your hair and makeup.

Worry not if you're still a little undecided about what look you want to sport for the night. We have Irena Adam, Malaysia Tatler resident makeup artist, who is responsible for making some of our leading ladies like Katrina Taib look camera-ready, to help you out.

Those still in a last-minute scramble on how to do your makeup, she has recommended 3 looks that will never go out of style and promise to help you look great in photos.

LOOK 1: Natural glowing skin with smoky eye

"Smoky eyes are perfect for a night event because it enhances your most dominant feature. Your skin should then look natural and glowy so you won't look 'cakey'. Your foundation needs to be very light and sheer. Before application, make sure your skin is well cleansed and moisturised.

I use Cle de Peau Sheer Fluid Veil to give skin a radiant, dewy finish. After that I use Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation which gives very light silky liquid finish. I do light contouring using darker shade of liquid foundation from MAC, while for highlighting, I use the Clea de Peau Luminizing Face Enhancer.

For the eyes, I love NARS eyeshadow which looks natural yet stunning. I blend a lighter colour on the crease over the darker colour to soften and set it. That way it wouldn't smudge and give you the 'raccoon' look."

LOOK 2: The Great Gatsby

"This look focuses on both eyes and lips so it is perfect for for those looking to make a statement. It is highly recommended for those who have fair skin tone as it will add a dramatic effect and make the colours pop.

I start with a MAC Base Primer to get the eyeshadow to stay. For the eyes, I recommend the Cle de Peau 306 Silver Eclipse Eye Quad for eyes that scream drama. The metallic silver goes very well with the black and metallic rose colours. I finish the look off with a MAC Russian Red lipstick."

LOOK 3: Classic Hollywood

"The focus of this look is the eyeliner which is winged dramatically to effectively grab attention. To achieve this, I use Empro Black Diamond Liner. Lids are kept nude with Cle de Peau's 301 Marmalade Sky Eye Quad, featuring smoky pinks and subtle gold. Lashes are amped up with falsies and a coat of mascara.

Top it all off with MAC's Ruby Woo matte lipstick and you're ready to make a dramatic entrance."
