Rozie Mastor, CEO of Asian Potions

Frequent flyer Rozie Mastor relies on her trusty Asian Potions essential oils and body lotions to keep comfortable, rested and protected against germs whenever she travels.

With Movember now behind us, December marks the start of the holiday season, which also means there will be a lot of packing and jetting off to various destinations with either friends of family to spend some good ol' quality time together.

The only downside to that is being stuck for extended hours on a plane, squeezed into the small carrier and breathing in recycled air that is perhaps laden with germs and other microorganism. Cringe!

"The stale recycled air of the place, the discomfort, the jetlag and the recovery period afterwards are what I dislike most," shares Rozie Mastor, the stylish and jet-setting CEO of Asian Potions.

Unfortunately for her, travel is at least a monthly thing, a big part due to work. Fortunately, she has found her little secret to keep comfortable, rested and protected against germs while in the air and is more than willing to share it with us.

How do you keep as comfortable as possible in long-haul flights?

I can’t live without my Asian Potions travelling kit that contains some of my favorite pure essential oils of peppermint, lavender and rosemary.

Airline carriers are formidable carriers of the common cold and peppermint essential oils have immune boosting properties to ward out germs in planes. It is also great for people who have migraines and helps when one feels nauseous because of turbulence. Lavender essential oils relax me and rosemary alleviates muscular and rheumatic pain from sitting too long on the plane.

I drop a few drops of pure essential oils on my handkerchief or on my traveling pillow.

How do you keep fresh in long haul flights?

I always travel with an extra toothbrush, Asian Potions Traveling kit that contains my pure essential oils, Asian Potions lotions and SK-II facial masks.

I normally rewire my timing according to the local time of my destination 24 hours before I fly so I can adjust quicker to the local time at my destination. I’d sleep in long haul flights and get up just as we land.

How do you feel about wearing makeup on board?

I try not to wear too much makeup onboard as I normally sleep or take naps, so I normally have minimal makeup on. I carry a Nars make-up set and Tom Ford lipstick that I apply as soon as we are about to land.

What about hair? How do you keep yours looking and feeling as fresh as possible when on board a plane?

I normally wash my hair before having to sit through a long flight and have it up in a bun whilst on the plane. As soon as I land, I loosen my hair and I get instant waves and volume.

Share with us some of your tips to looking as good as possible when flying.

I think when one is comfortable one will always look good. A jacket always makes one look good even when you just have a T-shirt and jeans on and a pashmina makes one look more elegant. Sunglasses are also great to hide dark circles.

Some people suffer breakouts or have their skin react differently to the climate of the new place they arrive at. How do you advise them to acclimatise?

Protect yourself from the dry air on board the plane by moisturising and rehydrateing your system by drinking lots of water. Use heavier moisturiser when travelling.

How to you quickly  freshen up when you finally land so you can look your best while exiting the airport?

I always brush my teeth before I land, spray perfume on my temples and apply a fresh coat of lipstick.
