Dior Addict Tie-Dye Lipstick

Dior's Tie-Dye collection lipsticks promise a fun intertwining ombre effect upon wearing. How did they fare in a round of test among some of us here at Malaysia Tatler?

One makeup collection that really stood out for us of the many released for summer 2015 was Dior’s Tie-Dye Collection inspired by the swirls of beautiful colours of tie-dye fabrics most popular during the 60’s.

Of the collection, it was almost impossible to overlook its Dior Addict Tie-Dye lipsticks, a revolutionary two-pastel-colours-in-one delight. Each boasts a fun summer hue – ‘Red Bliss’, ‘Coral Trip’ and ‘Fuschia Utopia’, among them -- with a contrasting colour, shaped like the iconic Dior logo in the centre, running all the way through the bullet.

It promises a fun intertwining ombre effect upon wearing, leaving behind a fresh sun-kissed look.

Here’s what we at Tatler think after trying out a few of them.

Dior Addict Tie-Dye Lipstick in ‘Red Bliss’

First impression: It’s very moisturising, very lightweight, very comfortable.
Packaging: The casing is really nice, you can use this reflective little part as a mirror.
Colour: It’s very balmy. The lipstick itself looks bright but when you put it on, it looks like you’ve had a popsicle and it left a light colour stain. Definitely very summery. I don’t really wear lipsticks because I get very lazy to reapply and for day-time I feel quite self-conscious about wearing heavy lipsticks. This solves both issues.
Comfort: It’s great for day-time, you don’t feel like you’re wearing too heavy of a lipstick, yet you still have a bit of colour on you.
Wear: It feels really nice on the lips so you don’t mind reapplying. I quite enjoyed reapplying it.

Dior Addict Tie-Dye Lipstick in ‘Coral Trip’

First Impression: It’s so fun, two colours in one! It gives off a very young feel, the names themselves are very youthful.
Packaging: I really like the packaging, I'd buy it for the packaging alone.
Colour: The colour is very mild, just how I like it. It’s perfect for those days when you don’t feel like wearing thick makeup. People told me I look different, fresher, but they can’t tell exactly why.
Comfort: It makes me feel like I’m not wearing anything. It’s like a lipbalm with a bit of colour, perfect for our hot, humid days. The best thing is it doesn’t slide. You can reapply many times but it doesn’t feel like it piles on. I even wore it to sleep in air-conditioning. The balm lasted. My lips still felt moisturised.
Wear: The colour stays on but the gloss diminishes after a few hours, as though your lips absorbed the moisture. Proof of its hydration!

First Impression: It glides on effortlessly and leaves your lips feeling like you’re not wearing anything.
Packaging: The silvery translucent casing is certainly a fresh take with a slight iridescent film that is very pretty.
Colour: The colour is not very intense, perfect for those days when you just want a hint of colour but plenty of hydration for your lips. It leaves you with a slight tint, like a just-kissed look, so it’s not too heavy to wear it out and about during the day. I love it that it’s not overly dressy, perfect for day-time!
Comfort: It feels exactly like a lipbalm, it’s so comfortable sometimes I forget I’m wearing it! My lips tend to peel when I wear lipsticks that are too pigmented; this one leaves it feeling soft and comfortable.
Wear: It transfers a little immediately after application, you need to leave it on a while then the colour sort of stains into your lips then it stays quite well.
