Louis Vuitton vanity case in orange leather

Opening the Louis Vuitton treasure chest of archives, Nicolas Ghesquière designs a series of trunk-inspired vanity cases for its fall 2015 womenswear collection.

It all started with the Petite Malles clutch box bag, first featured in the Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 ready-to-wear show. That particular mini bag caused an uproar of excitement in the fashion world and quickly became one of the most coveted bags.

Even after two seasons, the trunk inspiration is still going strong in the house of Louis Vuitton. For its recent fall 2015 runway show, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière plunged back into the archive of trunk designs to create a series of vanity cases.

From the special Auto Trunk for Citroën to Albert Kahn’s Special Photographer’s Trunk and the classic tweed vanity case, the iconic trunks of the past receive a facelift for a fresher and more modern look to cater to the needs of fashionistas today.

Our personal favourite is this classy leather trunk in a striking orange colour, spotted on Julie Hoomans in look #10 of the show. While the silver-plated case and monogram canvas edition are very tempting, the orange made it to our list of Fall 2015 wardribe must-haves because of its simplicity and boldness.

While not spacious enough to pack in a wardrobe, the case is just the right size to pack in your selection of makeup, tech gadgets and wallet. It is also just the right fit for global jet sets to make a stylish entrance and exit at the airport or better yet, a grand departure for an oriental express train vacation around Asia.

For those who are now eyeing the trunk vanity case like us, we just have to wait patiently for the Fall 2015 collection to arrive in the coming months.
