Giorgio Armani at his fall/winter 2014 runway show

From Armani's rage against Anna Wintour to the McDonald's parody at Moschino, we wrap up the hottest topics in Milan Fashion Week for you.

We started off in New York followed by London, covering the biggest headlines of the fashion week in each city and now we’ve reached our third stop, Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014.

Milan is not short of drama and excitement with big names making waves, like the case of Giorgio Armani vs. Anna Wintour, the McDonald’s guest appearance in Moschino to Google’s tech collaboration with Fendi.

So let’s take a look at the six biggest events that happened during Milan Fashion Week.

‘I’m Lovin It’ at Moschino

Moshino was probably the most memorable show in Milan this season for its outrageously tacky but chic collection inspired by one of the biggest icons – McDonald’s. This season, the fashion powerhouse did a McDonald’s parody with a few iconic designs like the classic clutch bag and tweed jacket. The most coveted amongst them is the French fries phone cover that has already been spotted in the hands of fashion elites. Lucky for us, a capsule collection has already launched with selected designs available on the Moschino website – truly in spirit with the idea of fast food retailing.

Armani fuming with Wintour's absence
With a 12-hour break between shows in Milan and Paris, many fashionistas -- including the “Queen of Fashion”, Anna Wintour -- opted to leave early and wound up missing the last day of Milan Fashion Week. It so happened that fashion powerhouse Giorgio Armani was hosting its show on the day and the designer wasn’t too happy about Wintour's absence, saying, “She said she was sending her people. But if you go to see your dentist and he puts you in the hands of his assistant, what's your reaction?”

Fendi does some Googling

Livestreaming from the runway isn't anything new, but what Fendi did with Google for their fall/winter show is the first of its kind. This season, three flying drones by tech company Parrot were seen hovering above the runway providing an all-angle live stream show for viewers online. While some users said the result was not too ideal, it is certainly a big step in fashion technology. So we say “kudos” to Google and Fendi for the breakthrough.

Jil Sander walks out on her label - again
It is said that third time’s always a charm but it doesn’t seem that way with the famed label Jil Sander. This season marks the third walkout by the founder and designer, Jil Sander from her namesake label, leaving the design team helpless in creating the fall/winter collection. While most felt sorry for the team, we do applaud their determination in creating a well-constructed collection that held on to the fundamentals of Jil Sander.

Two Karls in one show

Fendi made more than one headline this season with Karl Lagerfeld, who had us seeing double. A doll keychain of the Kaiser was seen in the hands of Cara Delevinge and the other was the designer himself, of course. Photos of the Karl doll flooded across social media platforms, adding onto the toy portfolio of the iconic designer alongside his Tokidoki figurine, My Little Pony Karl Lagerfeld and the Steiff bear Karl edition. With the growing number of toys in his name, perhaps we will see a new toy label launching in the name of The Kaiser?

Raining stars at the Bulgari party
Bulgari's fall/winter accessories presentation paid homage to the iconic Spanish steps and the beautiful Etarnal City of Rome with a special dinner party at the Bulgari Hotel. While the collection captivated the hearts of guests, what made bigger headlines was the star-studded guest list which included The Impossible actress, Naomi Watts; Italian Vogue editor-in-chief, Franca Sozzani; Chinese beauty queen, Zhang Ziling and 21 Jump Street actor, Dave Franco among other prolific socialites, royalties and A-listers.
