In true American fashion, New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 is all about the chicness of wearability, utility, asymmetry and sporty.

Over the weekend, the entire fashion industry across continents were abuzzed about New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 with some of the biggest American fashion houses showing their collections. While the snow is still relentless since the opening day, nothing can stop fashion from strutting down it catwalk.

This season sees designers spread out the entire Manhattan island away from Lincoln Centre like Alexander Wangwho crossed over to Brooklyn and Jason Wu who set up show at SoHo. Though separated by location, the American designers seems to be in sync with trend, showcasing a myriad of looks focusing on movement and utility that is essential in winterwear without compromising their signature aesthetics.

 Lacoste
It was a typically sporty show at Lacoste, with logo sweatshirts heralding 'Fair Play' and the Chantaco golf course in the South of France designed by René Lacoste's father-in-law. Girls rocked sweater and bomber dresses, while boys appeared in solid burgundy and navy tailoring with luxe sneakers.

Hervé Leger
Lubov and Max Azria's collection treated the label's famed bodycon dresses to pleats, cut-outs, square studs and asymmetrical details. For footwear, models wore stunning open-toed thigh-high boots and shorter ankle booties with metal toe bands.

 Prabal Gurung
Gurung's latest show mixed woolly, furry, tribal influences with a sense of old school glamor and plenty of sex appeal. The Nepalese-born designer's cocktail dresses featured asymmetrical cut-outs, and stunning satin eveningwear gowns showed off legs with a thigh-high split.

 Alexander Wang
Wang dragged the fashion pack to Brooklyn, but the designer didn't disappoint. Models with slicked down side-partings wore utility pocket dresses and coats, equestrian-style boots, neon woven tops, laser-cut patterned leathers (which change color when exposed to heat), and dyed lamb furs.

Victoria Beckham
The former pop star's fashion evolution continues. This time around the devil was in the details, which included metallic chain closures on minimalist asymmetrical coats. Colored tweed and abstract print broke up the monochrome vibe, while flowing pleated skirts and big pants added some volume to the silhouettes.

Jason Wu
Wu's supermodel-studded show featured a mix of fur-lined sporty outerwear with classic eveningwear shapes, and glamorous cut-outs on draped dresses. Patent leather t-bar shoes added to the mid-20th-century aesthetic.

Thakoon
Color was key at Thakoon. Inspired by Patagonia, the designer served up padded coats, embroidered bomber jackets, bright tweeds (contrasted with more muted check tailored pieces), and bags of vibrant floral prints.

Altuzarra
Altuzarra is on the rise, and the young Franco-American designer opened with confident colored wrap coats and minimalist slingback sandals. Elsewhere shearling jackets with leather patch pockets worn with satin evening gowns as well as and loosely woven wool dresses caught the eye.

Yigal Azrouël
Working in a pared-back palette, Azrouël mixed wool felts, checks and knits in sporty dresses and coats with zip-on arms. Leather (on jackets, coats and skirts), pleats and cracked concrete digital prints also appeared.
