Burberry Spring 2015 campaign

While it has always been part and parcel of our daily casual wardrobe, it is time for us to pick our denim up for a stylish makeover.

For the past decades, we have come to take denim as a casual fashion piece for comfort and mobility. However, that notion is challenged when luxury fashion houses caught the '90s bug in the recent seasons.

For the past few seasons, denim is slowly pushing towards the forefront of fashion and now, it has succeeded in becoming a stylish statement that makes the cut in black tie soirees and formal parties.

From wasp waisted jackets from Burberry Prorsum to denim blazers by Junya Watanabe, denim has never felt so posh and luxe.

Here's some of the best picks in stylish denim from the spring 2015 collections.

The feminine touch
In the '90s, denim skirts or dresses are often in simple A-lines or short and skimpy editions but in 2015, it is all about long flares and pleated folds that add a ladylike touch to the rugged material.

Stella McCartney's indigo denim skirt plays with asymmetry, while Sibling's white flared skirt reflects the bootcut jean look with a distressed texture. If you are looking for a dress, Marni's denim version will be great for both cocktail and work affairs.

The unique outerwear silhouettes
We all love our classic denim jackets and vests but this spring, take it up a notch with more stylish denim outerwear in forms of trench coats, oversized jackets and shearling wasp-waisted renditions.

Championing the trend is Burberry Prorsum that sports designs like the denim trench coat with patent leather patchwork and the shearling peplum jacket with denim trims. If you like a full denim-only look, then Kenzo's oversized coat is definitely the right fit.

Something for the gents
Now, let's not forget about the gents. For the dapper dans, it is time to transform your casual denim into sharp and suave blazers. Ones that are red carpet and gala dinner-worthy.

Junya Watanabe makes the highlight of the season with its patchwork denim blazer, while Ralph Lauren goes classic with a striped blazer in washed denim. Not a fan of prints and funky patterns? Then Officine Generale's slim fitted denim jacket is most likely your cup of tea.
