Montblanc 1858 Collection

Featuring two timepieces inspired from 1858, Montblanc puts contemporary designs and mechanics into its 157-year history.

Going back to where everything started, Montblanc went back to its roots to introduce its Montblanc 1858 collection that was inspired by chronometer watches created throughout its 157-year history.

Founded in Villeret in the Sant-Imier valley in 1858, Montblanc’s prestigious Miverva manufacture has been an essential part of the Montblanc watchmaking manufacture. It is recognised as one of the greats when it comes to creating chronographs and sports counters, capable of reading tiny fractions of time with chronometric precision.

Montblanc 1858 Chonograph Tachymeter

Unveiled at SIAR 2015, the 100-piece limited edition Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter is featured with a 44 mm, 18-karat red gold case with curved horns to fit a wearer’s wrist comfortably as well as a hand-wound mechanical calibre finish.

Its exceptionally clear and large bicompax dial has large Arabic numerals and “cathedral” hands coated with Super-LumiNova, allowing it to glow in the dark.

The deep black dial background which sports the Montblanc emblem as well has been drawn to show a traced rail track with an added tachymetric scale to allow speed measurements in terms of a timed kilometre.

It also comes with a skeletal back case, which allows the wearer to view the mechanics of the watch in greater detail.

Montblanc 1858 Small Second Special Edition

Also unveiled at SIAR 2015, the Montblanc 1858 Small Second Special Edition comes with a contemporary and modern design, fitted with a stainless steel 44 mm case. This hand-wound calibre watch has a bevelled winding crown which is ideally proportioned for everyday use, allowing the wearer to put it on with ease for hours on end.

For all traditional watchmaking enthusiasts, the bezel featured on this watch ensures maximised clarity of the dial, making it vastly easier to view during the daytime as well as the night, thanks to its large Arabic numeral and “cathedral” hands coated with beige-painted Super-LumiNova.

The fine, curved horns on the watch were designed to follow the natural curvature of the wrist, making it a particularly pleasant timepiece to put on yet with a bold and strong design.

In tribute to Minerva’s birthday in 1858, this particular model is limited to only 858 pieces.

With a lot of smartwatches these days, Montblanc has also created one to assist the wearer in their daily activities.
