Breitling Emergency II watch mechanics

Breitling releases the new Emergency II watch that doubles as a relieve distress alert and homing beacon for search and rescue missons.

As the pioneer in the field of technical watches and instruments, Breitling has created yet another breakthrough with the world’s first wristwatch with a dual frequency built-in personal locator beacon (PLB) – The Emergency II.

Breitling started developing this innovative high-tech gem with the aim to save lives where the watch could be used as a beacon during search and rescue missions and during different types of distress situations on land, at sea or in the air.

In 1995, Breitling created Emergency, the first wristwatch with a micro-transmitter system that was designed specifically to enable accurate homing in on pilots or passengers following a plane crash. Thus it became a complement to the standard on-board aircraft equipment and has proven to be beneficial in locating and rescuing people in danger.

But with the increase of both natural and manmade disasters happening around the globe, Breitling decided to put in five more years of research and development to create a better model that could break the limitations of its predecessor.

The new Emergency II watch is intended for a wide range of users in a variety of fields from aviation, sea navigation, hiking to extreme sports and exploration where it serves as an alert and homing system through a transmitter that is compliant with the Cospas-Sarsat international satellite alert system.

With its technical advancement, the durability and design of the physical model are made to withstand extreme weather and environment. The watch is made with a complex titanium case that is sturdy, light, anti magnetic, corrosion resistant and non-allergenic.

While it serves mainly as a survival instrument, it also boasts of many chronograph features used by professionals including: an alarm, timer, multilingual calendar, second time zone and battery end-of-life indicator – while still retaining its use as a timepiece.

Through this incredible step forward in chronograph technology, there is without a doubt that many could be spared from the harsh calamities befalling on us.
