Babe Vs Kikubari

Friends first and kitchen rivals second, Jeff Ramsey of Babe and Jun Wong of Kikubari have decided to leave it up to Malaysia's culinary elite to ultimately crown which restaurant can make the tastiest dishes in a friendly Iron Chef-style battle over the course of two nights on October 23 and 24

The winner will claim bragging rights while the loser will have to give the winner's kitchen a thorough scrubbing.

The battle will be a team versus team challenge over a four course menu – a starter, a second course, a main and a dessert, bringing the total of number of courses to eight.

The four not-so-secret ingredients that will be at the focus of each course from starter to dessert will be wagyu beef, kabocha pumpkin, monkfish and bean, respectively.

An expert panel of three judges, made of culinary celebrities, journalists and gourmands, will be present to weigh in on who will ultimately be crowned the "Iron Chef", rating each dish based on "creativity", "flavour" and "presentation" through a score system of 1 to 10.

Yours truly will also be representing T.Dining as one of the judges during the event, so be sure to look out for our coverage then on Instagram Stories.

However, the panel of judges aren't the only ones that will be dishing out scores, as diners will also have the opportunity to voice their opinions and grant points to each dish course-by-course via score cards. Even so, the judges' scores will ultimately carry more weight than those of diners, but will eventually be accumulated together to decide the winner at the end of the event.

Diners will also have the chance to watch a live televised feed of the kitchen to see how both teams are handling their dinner service, with each course to be explained by the head chefs as they are being served.

The event will take place on October 23 and 24 at 7PM onwards on Babe's turf over at Work@Clearwater Damansara, going for RM300++ per pax.

Those interested can make a booking at Babe's official website under the reservations section.
