Scoring upwards of 94 points, six wines from the 2020 Penfolds Collection mark their entry into Malaysia

Individually outstanding but connected by familial bonds, the wines that make up the 2020 Penfolds Collection highlight the Australian wine producer’s recognisable House Style. These are wines good enough to drink on their own while also bringing out the best in food pairings.

Spanning multi-region and multi-vineyard blends as well as single-region wines and a single-vineyard wine, the 2020 Penfolds Collection has received rave reviews from the pantheon of wine experts such as James Suckling, The World of Fine Wine, Decanter, Andrew Caillard MW, and other revered sommeliers and publications.

Of particular note are the charm and character of the core 2018 Penfolds Bins, which are as good as any released across the last half-century.

Malaysian wine enthusiasts can get acquainted with the 2020 Penfolds Collection starting from September 2020, as six wines with no less than 94 points will be distributed by Luen Heng in West Malaysia and Mega Express in East Malaysia. As chance would have it, all six hail from 2018’s harvest, which has been put on a pedestal by Penfolds’ chief winemaker Peter Gago: “Of particular note are the charm and character of the core 2018 Penfolds Bins, which are as good as any released across the last half-century.”

Meanwhile, the 2018 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz deserves special highlight, as 2020 marks the wine’s 60th anniversary. First blended by pioneer winemaker Max Schubert in 1960, the Penfolds classic is an evergreen collectible. “Put simply, Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz manifests all that is Penfolds,” enthused Gago. “This style extolls the wisdom of blending, as it does the synergies afforded by varietal and sourcing freedom.”
