The team behind SOULed OUT and WIP delivers a menu with cleverly fused dishes.

Aligned with its philosophy of ‘eat, play and live’, Tujo is a metropolitan hangout spot that is brought to you by the same team behind SOULed OUT and WIP. Designed by interior firm Ed Poole, the interiors are strikingly attractive with floor-to-ceiling windows, Modo chandeliers and a groovy bar. Tujo establishes itself as a bar-serrie and grill joint – a departure indeed from its predecessor, 7atenine. Grilled items dominate the menu here, complemented with a selection of side dishes, pizzas, pastas and local delights.

If you are at a loss at what to order, going local is a safe bet. The Tujo stinger satay, a dish comprising of six tasty chicken skewers, is a treat on sticks – thanks to a generous drizzling of pineapple salsa, nuts & spicy shrimp paste (a staple sauce in rojak).

For those with a refined palate, go for gold with the liver terrine, a pate of foie gras, chicken liver, sultanas and chives. The terrine strikes a good balance in flavour and texture, being rich and creamy without being overwhelming. Move on from these satisfying starters to a dish with a lighter flavour such as oxtail soup. Light and clear, the soup comes with generous portions of tender oxtail pieces.

Men are invited to indulge in the supremely hearty dinosaur ribs with garlic mash and vegetables. Served medium, the meat on its own is fatty and succulent, and goes well with the creamy and buttery garlic mash. By the way, if you enjoy the mash tremendously, you could order the mash on the side, a fact we are thrilled to hear as it is that good.

Adventurous eaters will be pleased with the Napoli bianco pizza, comprising of squid ink base. With meatballs, beef pieces, cheese and pepperoni heaped atop it, it feels like you are eating a thin burger minus the top bun. For the health-conscious, opt for a spinach pizza base instead.

Amidst an array of cleverly fused dishes on the menu, the tom yam fettucine is a good choice. Spicy and authentic, the dish is served with seafood for a more defined taste. To turn it up a notch, the ira malai, prawns in coriander gravy with mixed vegetables & pulao rice, leans towards the sweeter side of spicy and is sizable enough to feed two.

Simple nostalgic games, such as five stones and bottle caps, are available on the table should you decide to order a few round of cocktails (we would highly recommend the mojito, fruity sangria and eden melon) alongside your dessert. A novelty here is the latest addition to the Tujo dessert menu – sangria cake. Decadent and fruity, be sure to slowly savour every bite as you relax and unwind your evening away at Tujo.
