Fans of Vietnamese cuisine, health nuts and build-your-own bowl enthusiasts are in for a treat

Anabelle Co-Martinent is caught up in an Instagram moment: the founder of La Juiceria Superfoods excitedly snaps photos of the beef pho, as its soup reflects the neon signage around us. Plenty about La Juiceria Superfoods in Main Place Mall, Subang Jaya is photogenic, from the beige rattan furniture to the witty quotes installed on the walls.

The sprawling and sundry eatery is fit for any occasion; the same can be the said for its menu.

"It's like a food court where you have a variety of options," explains Co-Martinent.

We combined the experience at La Juiceria and Super Saigon into La Juiceria Superfoods, which has both a juice bar and a pho counter.

Colourful and cheerful details

The furnishing differs per section: upon entering the restaurant, I am greeted by marble tiled floors recalling the early '90s interior trend complete with metal chairs and cushioned benches—perfect for families or for throwing a small party.

Behind the golden archways is an intimate setting that extends to the back. This is where customers have full view of the cooks manning the Super Saigon Pho Café counter. The Super Juice Bar has its own space with rustic rattan chairs and a turquoise pillar with the quote, "Healthy is sexy," which doubles as a backdrop for selfies.

We start with the chicken and tiger prawns paper rolls with fresh cucumber and lettuce. The cold appetiser is delicious when dipped in sweet and sour sauce to warm up the appetite. Its accompanying salad bowl caters to every whim; we choose to blend teriyaki chicken, quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes and cherry tomatoes for a simple yet satisfying meal.

Another highlight is the pho with tender beef and flat noodles. La Juiceria makes it easy for first-timers by including a manual on how to best enjoy the classic Vietnamese dish—add a squeeze of lime juice, crunchy bean sprouts, and as much chili or sate chili paste as you want.

Moving on to the fried rice quinoa: the ancient grains aren't simply a fad but a favourite among Malaysians. The savoury entree has just the right amount of tanginess from the teriyaki grilled tofu and the button mushrooms.

But it was the pesto spaghetti served with cherry tomatoes that won the table over. We went for seconds and thirds and even took some to go.

Drinks

Goodness Greens juice

As expected of a crossover between La Juiceria and Super Saigon, milky Vietnamese coffee (on the rocks, of course) and plenty of juices are on the menu. The former has the perfect bitter and sweet 'kaw' factor. As for the latter, we recommend the Açai Berry with bio-live natural Greek yogurt and the Goodness Greens juice with 6 green ingredients: kale, spinach, apple, celery, kyuri cucumber and parsley.

In our favourite smoothie bowl, açai berry is blended with almond milk and topped with bananas, strawberries, chia seeds and granola. You'd be amazed by how rich and flavourful this sweet treat is—minus the sin!

To cap lunch, we finish with The Defender tonic, which contains cayenne paper, turmeric and wildflower honey. Providing a strong kick of spiciness that lingers on the tongue, the concoction will wake up both body and mind.
