The ceremony and gala dinner will also spotlight the company’s commitment to encouraging a more sustainable economy
It’s arriving a few months later than usual this year, but food lovers of all types will be glad to know they have a confirmed date to look forward to. Today, the Michelin Guide Singapore announced that the star selection of this year’s guide will be officially revealed on September 17.
The 2019 Star Revelation awards ceremony and gala dinner, featuring an exquisite six-course dinner created by internationally renowned chefs from Michelin-starred establishments around the world, will be held at the Capella Singapore.
The feast will no doubt help showcase the varied establishments across the region that have met the standards of the longstanding guide, told via an equally diverse menu of dishes by the likes of Sebastien Lepinoy of two-Michelin starred Les Amis in Singapore; Guillaume Galliot of three-Michelin starred Caprice (Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2019); Kelvin Au Yeung of three-starred Jade Dragon (Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2019); and Arisara ‘Paper’ Chongphanitkul of Saawaan in Bangkok (which also recently earned a Michelin star rating in the Michelin Guide Bangkok, Phuket Phang-Nga 2019).
But there is perhaps a more important—and surely more pressing—point to be gleaned. Themed Kitchens of Progression, the gala dinner aims to reaffirm the brand’s strong support of sustainable dining and culinary practices. Chefs involved in the preparation are “implored to procure ingredients from trusted suppliers and organisations that practice ethical and sustainable farming” and be mindful about reducing food wastage.
