As posted by Vogue, Smith's take on this Malaysian classic celebrates the availability of roti all over the world and gets served with a drizzling of honey and a dash of salt.
Smith is self-taught and has been praised by The New York Times as one of the 9 young New Yorkers to look out for creative greatness.
She is known for her work as a pastry chef in popular New York hot spots and making sculptures out of bread.
Her choice to feature this tea-time snack undoubtedly comes from the roti's elegant net-like patterns and shows the growing awareness of Malaysian cuisine worldwide.
