As director of marketing at The Gardens Mall, Gabrielle Tan has a few favourite hotspots for dining at the shopping centre, whether it’s for celebrations or a quiet cup of tea.

Outside of The Gardens though, our Most Stylish Woman 2013 (and November cover story) also has a down-to-earth liking for good ol’ char kuey teow.

Below, Gabrielle shares her picks for dining in and out of Malaysia.

Favourite breakfast: Special K cereal1- Gabrielle Tan Society Picks.jpg -

Craziest thing you've ever eaten: Cod sperm at Sage. Surprisingly it tasted good but slightly slimey.

Favourite hawker spot in Malaysia: Gurney Drive in Penang. My go-to hawker food is char kuey teow.

Food that reminds you of your childhood: Brie with grapes as it was one of the favourite dishes I had with my late grandfather for after-dinner munchies.

Where to bring visitors for mouth-watering Malaysian food: Nirvana Maju for banana leaf.

Where do you celebrate special occasions? Sage because of the food, friendly staff and minimalistic interior design.

Where do you unwind with a cup of tea? Alexis and Pastis at The Gardens Mall. Alexis for its organic herbal tea and Pastis for tea and scones.

Favourite restaurant outside of Malaysia: Fat Duck in London.
