Australian designer Marc Newson shows off the elegant and dynamic nature of the celebrated Hennessy X.O through a new bold and modern interpretation.
Newson brings him with a wealth of experience, working with renowned brands on products such as the Apple Watch and Louis Vuitton bags.
With the new limited edition bottle, Newson brings his signature biomorphic design to the cognac’s recognisable decanter, reinterpreting its traditional decorative motifs (grapes and leaves) into a series of beautiful parallel ridges and grooves.
“Straight lines seemed to me a more modern interpretation of what already existed,” explains Newson.
The new bottle’s design amplifies the attractive qualities of the beloved blend inside (unchanged since 1870) and places Hennessy X.O at the front of the modern aesthetical frontier.
“To me, the stripes really emphasise the strength of the decanter’s shape. When they catch the light, they highlight both the bottle and the contents, making the whole feel warmer and more tactile. Taken together, all of these design elements are meant to convey the unique, immersive experience of X.O.” adds Newson.
Newson joins the elite club of visionaries who have each brought their own unique perspective to Hennessy X.O. This is his second project with the House of Hennessy, designing the striking decanter for the James Hennessy cognac in 2015.
This limited release will be available starting in July and through September 2017 worldwide.
