During a tasting at The Drawing Room, the Exotic Mango with glazed sable, mango mousse and sponge cake stole the show, as did the enticingly rich Horseshoe Praline with hazelnut ganache, caramel and glaze.

Meaning 'Cherry Season' in French, Le Temps des Cerises, a light sponge cake with cherry crunch gelée saw repeat visits by our dessert fork.

The Mr Mille-Feuille Gula Melaka is a stellar example of giving a classic French pastry a Malaysian twist. Picture layers of puff pastry interspersed with Gula Melaka and Diplomat Cream.

Select pastries from the last menu, such as the éclair with mango cream and the pistachio raspberry tart topped with chocolate and vanilla, have also survived the chef's makeover of the pastry counter.
