25 years of Malaysia Tatler: Covers through the years

"Every month from now, this colourful magazine, unlike any other in the country, will feature the elite in Malaysia – lifestyles of the news-makers, leisure, the arts, sports, recreation and many other interesting topics," says Tunku Imran, former Chairman of Malaysia Tatler, on our inaugural issue on November 1989.

25 years down the line and Malaysia Tatler still holds that belief close to heart, even when the physical appearance has changed so much since the first publication.

To kick start the series of celebration for our 25th anniversary, we couldn't help but look back to some of the most memorable covers of Malaysia Tatler, which featured Dato' Mokhzani Mahathir, Datin Winnie Loo and Dato' Bernard Chandran, and all the changes that we have experienced through the years.

Malaysia Tatler covers through the years (1989 to 2014)

We debuted our first issue on November 1989 with the late Sultan Azlan Shah on the cover. He was crowned Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the very same year .

In 1993, we took a step forward and changed the name from 'Malaysian Tatler' to Malaysia Tatler and the name has been with us since.

1995 saw a change of our icon on the side of our title: from a British colonial man to a man in traditional Malay warrior costume.

February 1998 marked our 100th issue of Malaysia Tatler.

Lim Meng Hong graced the cover of Malaysia Tatler's January 2001 issue.

For March 2004, we focused on founders of successful companies like Datin Winnie Loo, Dato' Dr Chin See Keat, Lin Chua and Datuk Edmond Samuel.

For our 16 anniversary issue (November 2005), we asked Tun Dr Mahathir to do a one on one exclusive feature with us.

Once again in Decemebr 2006, we revamped Malaysia Tatler to remain relevant and stay on top of the game.

In conjunction with F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, we shot Dato' Mokhzani Mahathir at the Sepang International Circuit for our April 2007 issue.

Ruth Yeoh, a strong advocate for the environment, was on the cover of our May 2007 as the 'Green Goddess'.

For June 2007, we celebrated the movers and shakers of Malaysia with Dato' Bernard Chandran and Camelia on the cover.

We got up close with Tengku Nasariah for our Art Issue in April 2008 with two special covers.

We saw the celebration of our 20th Anniversary in November 2009 with three covers featuring Pia Hassaram, Dianna Lee and Sereni Linggi.

Alia Ibrahim Hussein was immortalised as a work of art for our May 2010 issue.

Elizabeth Tan along with three other personalities talked about the training of mind, body and spirit in our Aprill 2011 issue.

Datin Sri Nur Rowena Baker, one of our nature's heroes, went underwater for our July 2011 cover.

In October 2012, we awarded the beautiful Marion Caunter with the Malaysia Tatler Most Stylish Woman award.

Dexter Foong and Terimunite Lounard Chandran fronted our October 2013 cover as part of our 'Boys to Men' series.

Our latest revamped look happened in March 2014 with three unique covers for the issue featuring Raisa Sufian, Tanya Steven and Jane Leong.

Stepping it up a notch for July 2014, we shot Katrina Taib on a bamboo raft in the Royal Belum Rainforest.

Lim Ai San and Lim Ai Chiin showed us the power of sisterly bonds for our October 2014 issue, leading up to our 25th Anniversary Ball
