Carmen and Carmey Chua

The day before we were scheduled to meet for our photo shoot, Carmey Chua sent our features editor an email to double-check details about wardrobe and such. Unlike her older sister Carmen, who was previously a Malaysia Tatler cover star four years ago, participating in a photo shoot was very new to her. She followed up with a text message.

“I’m really nervous. I don’t know what to expect, seems like a first date.”

In reality, Carmey didn’t have anything to worry about, she was a natural; a fact that her sister affirmed as the two settled in at a suite in the St Regis Hotel Kuala Lumpur for hair and makeup.

“She is more interested in fashion than I am,” said Carmen with a smile.

When the two sisters got in front of the camera, it was as if they were meant to be professional models. It also helped that they had each other as company to ride out the nerves and anxiety.
