Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir conferred France's highest distinction
Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir has been conferred the highest distinction by the Republic of France -- the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight in the Legion of Honour). Known for her long and tireless fight in the field of human rights, she was awarded the title by the ambassador of France to Malaysia HE Christophe Penot at the Residence of the Ambassador of France surrounded by her closest friends and family members, including parents Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah. Datin Paduka Marina, who was also named the United Nations' Person of the year in 2010, has long championed awareness on HIV/AIDS as well the rights of Muslim women. She is also known for fearlessly voicing her opinions on current international and national issues on social media.
