Filipina social entrepreneur, MK Bertulfo, is the founder and CEO of the educational platform, FHMoms, upskilling mothers so they don’t lose touch with the workforce

Mothers are some of the most influential figures in our lives. Yet, their loving sacrifices often push them to choose between motherhood and career. MK Bertulfo, the founder and CEO of social enterprise and e-learning platform FHMoms, ensures that mothers do not have to choose. With an active community of nearly 500,000 members, FHMoms grants women—mothers and maternal figures alike—the opportunity to learn new skills to empower themselves and their families.

The idea for FHMoms came from the real-life struggles of Filipino mums. Think of those endless hours in traffic, precious time away from kids; I was precisely in this situation when I started freelancing. Then it hit me: why not create a support group where these mums can chase their dreams without leaving home? That’s how FHMoms started. A place for mums to dive into freelancing, get a grip on parenting, and even launch their businesses–all from the comfort of their homes.

FHMoms are not just a group; we’re a movement. Our mission? To arm these incredible mums with everything they need–from e-learning to real job opportunities. We’re here to show them how to juggle a thriving career and a happy family, making a real difference in their households.

This amazing woman has been a game-changer in my life; it’s my mum. She taught me how to adapt to challenging times and find opportunities even if there’s nothing left, which has become the backbone of FHMoms. Her lessons are about mothers’ unstoppable power and resilience. Something we try to instil in our community daily.

Filipino society is constantly evolving, especially in how it sees women. We’re finally celebrating their diverse roles. But here’s the thing: empowering these women is crucial in driving our society forward. At FHMoms, we’re not just talking, we’re doing. We’re opening doors for these women to grow, not just in their careers but in their personal lives, too.

Empowerment is about backing up women’s dreams with real opportunities. At FHMoms, we’re constantly curating learning experiences and career paths. And the future? It’s bright and gives Filipina women chances to step into more inclusive workplaces and shine as entrepreneurs.

We celebrate Women’s Month because it powerfully reminds us of how far women have come and the battles they’re still fighting. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and gear up for the ongoing quest for equality. It’s about recognising women’s pivotal role in shaping our society and our future.

This year’s Women’s Month at FHMoms is packed with action. We’ve lined up projects and initiatives that are all about taking our support for our community to the next level. These aren’t just projects but pathways to more growth and opportunities for Filipina mothers. We will make the final announcement of the celebration on our Facebook Page and website, fhmoms.com.
