With nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, Mae Tan is a sought-after fashion influencer. Unlike the majority of her peers, however, Tan also walks the walk outside of the social media bubble. As the creative manager of boutique Surrender, which offers an array of niche luxury and streetwear labels, she is a force to be reckoned with in Singapore's fashion scene. After her family's business bought the boutique, Tan has played a growing role in its retail arm, which also owns Japanese brand Christian Dada and distributes Off-White in a number of Asian markets.

"I want to see Singaporeans take more risks in terms of creativity, fashion and art," she says of her ultimate vision. "I hope to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zones and approach fashion vivaciously.”

Sukki Singapora

It took four years of campaigning for Sukki Singapora to become the first person to perform a full, legal burlesque act in Singapore. Since that first performance in 2015, Singapora has gone on to become one of the city's most in-demand—and outspoken—performers. She uses her art as a platform to voice her thoughts on social issues, and is a global ambassador for UK-based charity The Sharan Project, which provides support for vulnerable women.

She fiercely rejects the notion that burlesque is for the male gaze, and is a passionate defender of the art, even taking tea with Queen Elizabeth II to discuss the subject. “Burlesque is too often seen as an illicit, male-placating and overtly sexual activity,” says Singapora. “In reality, it's a beautiful art form that embraces female sensuality and body confidence.”

Singapora first met Mae Tan at the Gen.T List 2017 Singapore unveiling party, where she performed in a collaboration with fellow honouree Shigga Shay.

Tabitha Nauser launched her career from another reality show, coming third in the 2009 series of Singapore Idol. The pop and R&B singer has had a chart-topping career in the decade since her breakout. Now signed with Sony Music Entertainment, songs like Bulletproof and Body Language have led some to dub her “Singapore’s Beyoncé”.

Last year, Nauser opened for US rapper Khalid’s American Teen Tour in Singapore, and performed at the Hong Kong Tatler Ball.
