On October 9, we unveiled the 102 honourees from China on the Gen.T List 2020 at an exclusive event in Shanghai.
The launch was held at Hengshan House, a traditional Shanghai-style villa. The historical landmark, once owned by famous Shanghainese industrialist Wang Yuqing, has been recently restored and modernised by 2020 honouree Liu Tianxin into a new cultural destination in the heart of the city.
Presented in partnership with our regional sponsors Credit Suisse, Chanel and Chopard, the dinner saw honourees from this and past years’ lists mingling with members of the Tribe, the panel of industry experts who nominate and help vet candidates for the Gen.T List. "To me, the most important factor is whether their business is considering profits, people and the planet at the same time," said Tribe member Jiang Yufei, project manager of B Corps China, on how she analysed candidates for this year's list.

We began the evening with a few minutes of mindfulness, led by meditation practitioner Mu Feng, to reflect on the things we have to be grateful for in this most turbulent of years. During dinner in the outdoor courtyard of Hengshan House, guests were kept entertained by an a capella performance as well as a videos created by Gen.T in partnership with Chanel, featuring 11 honourees from the Arts and Sustainability categories of our new list.
"Gen.T honourees are the changemakers of this era," said Gen.T China editor Christine Chan on the night, "and the Leaders of Tomorrow who will make our world a better place."
