The Picha Project
The Picha Project provides a platform for marginalised refugee communities in Malaysia to cater authentic, traditional meals to the public, delivering food produced by refugees to customers’ doorsteps. The brainchild of this initiative is Lim Yuet Kim, who co-founded The Picha Project with her friends Suzanne Ling and Lee Swee Lin to give refugee families a dignified way of earning a living. Today, Picha Project has successfully empowered 10 families of approximately 55 people from being debt-ridden into having savings. They are also dedicated to sharing these families’ stories through facilitating meals, open dialogues and talks. The three inspirational young women admit that they argue with each other every day at work, only because of how much they care for the community under their enterprise.
