Once less fêted than architects, interior designers are now celebrities in their own right with coffee table books, popular home collections and hit TV shows. Find out who are the 10 most Googled interior designers
Known as the original enfant terrible of design, Philippe Starck is the world’s most Googled interior designer, with nearly 500,000 yearly searches, according to creative resource Design Bundles.
The study analysed 100 interior designers across the globe to discover the 10 most sought-after in the world. It also ranked the top 10 by their Instagram followers and earnings, to find the most powerful social media star among them. Starck, known for his eclectic transformations of hotels, yachts, and bars, rakes in 41,000 searches a month—five times more than the 10th most Googled designer, Eric Kuster.
The 72-year-old Starck, who was born in France but now resides in Portugal, has never had any qualms being provocative whether in his public persona and his work. His Gun collection for Italian lighting brand FLOS, featured 18k gold replicas of machine guns and handguns as the lamp bases while his Juicy Salif juicer for Alessi has been panned as being all style with no function.
The designer is also the king of the pithy quote, saying that he can design a chair in two minutes and a hotel in a day and a half, or preferring to work alone, sometimes “naked in the bedroom.”
