1. Eames: The Architect and the Painter
The life and work of one of design's greatest power couples, Charles and Ray Eames, are celebrated in this joyful documentary, the first film since their deaths in 1978 and 1988 respectively. Their work is associated with the pinnacle of mid-century design and their chairs whether in plywood and leather or fibreglass, are still in great demand today. Less was known about how their personal lives and influence on historical events in American life shaped their work, but this marvellously detailed film documents how the architect (Charles) and the painter (Ray) did this.
