Cool fact: the farming village of ‘Bamboo Lake’ or Zhuzihu in Taipei’s Yangmingshan National Park was once a volcano-surrounded lava lake a long time ago. Today, its soil conditions are absolutely perfect for growing flowers like the beautiful calla lily despite the high altitudes.

That said, the Yangmingshan Calla Lily Festival will take place this year from March 30 to April 29. It's the time when all the farms across this area are dotted in green and white, thanks to the sturdy, trumpet-shaped calla lilies opening up to welcome the spring. More information on the festival and the national park can be found here
