While the 2 chief pollutants of our environment – the real estate and automobile industry – have, for a while now, taken steps to clean up their act, two players from both industries decided to do so together.

Bon Estates and Cycle & Carriage partnered up over the course of a weekend recently to showcase their newest green offerings. For the real estate developer, that project is ‘The Estate’ – a two-towered luxury development located on 3.68 acres of land in Bangsar South. The 45-storey towers hold a total of 328 energy efficient units that have the added bonus of overlooking the incredible green lung that is the Bukit Gasing forest reserve.

Proving that its ecological chops aren’t just a baseless boast, The Estate has been rated a Building Sector Energy Efficient Project (BSEEP) by United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR), making it a home for not only the present, but one to pass on to the next generation.

Complementing the eco-friendly homes were 2 test-driveable, eco-friendly rides courtesy of Cycle & Carriage – the Mercedes-Benz C 350 e plug-in hybrid mid-sized sedan and the S 400 hybrid luxury sedan.

The C 350 e packs an electric motor that provides additional power to the 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 275bhp and 600Nm of torque – translating to a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds.

The S 400 Hybrid on the other hand, takes eco-friendly cars into a new class. As a car you’d much rather been driven in, the sedan comes with a stylishly luxurious interior, but still packs a sizeable powerplant in the form of a 3.5 litre V6 engine if you want to let loose behind the wheel. To go along with its low emmisions, the S 400 hybrid also boasts a fuel consumption of just 6.3 litres per 100km.
