The BMW 5 series is getting a new badge and some exterior upgrades to mark the German automaker’s 100th anniversary.

The limited edition 528i M Performance Edition builds up on its base model and gives the luxury sedan a sportier feel. Along with the new black kidney grilles, the car is fitted with an M Performance carbon fibre rear spoiler and carbon fibre side skirts showing off the signature M Performance stripes. Additionally, the front bumper receives some carbon fibre to round off the overall aggressive look.

Under the hood, the M Performance runs the same 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine as the regular 528i with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The whole setup manages 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds and is electronically limited to a 250km/h top speed.

But the icing on the cake has to be that the M Performance will be sold for RM363,800, on-the-road before insurance, making it  cheaper than the regular 528i, although only 100 units are available for purchase.

The BMW 528i M Performance Edition is available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide. For more information, visit BMW’s official website.

The limited edition 5 series can now join the limited edition 7 series from the 100 year old automaker.
