The new locally assembled 7 Series sedan is a plug-in hybrid that combines a sporty aesthetic with a host of high-tech features that make it the ultimate driving experience

The new BMW 740 Le xDrive M Sport is the latest addition to BMW Group Malaysia's growing portfolio of locally assembled vehicles at its plant in Kulim, Kedah. The Bavarian automaker says it has successfully delivered over 2,500 vehicles from across its BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands in the first quarter of 2021 alone. This translates into an impressive growth of 25 per cent compared to the same period last year.

When it comes to premium luxury driving experience, few models can compete with the BMW 7 Series. The new BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport is the latest iteration of its flagship model and it has a long rich history that stretches back to 1977 when it first debuted.

The perfect combination between luxury and performance, the new 7 Series comes with the M Sport Aerodynamic package, along with other optimisations. The elegant front apron features a large kidney grille and is flanked by a pair of BMW Laserlight headlights that come with the High-Beam Assistant feature which automatically dips the headlights when it detects oncoming traffic while allowing you to benefit from a continuous full beam of light.

Other exterior highlights include a set of 19-inch M light alloy wheels in double spoke style and run-flat tyres. This is rounded out by the inclusion of M Sport brakes and Sky Lounge panorama glass roof on top.

Just like the original 7 Series, which marked a huge step forward in technology for the Bavarian automaker, the new sedan is packed to the brim with innovative technology. At the heart of the new BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport sits a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine that generates a peak output of 210 kW/286 hp at 5,000 – 6,000 rpm, and a top speed of 250km/h.

Power is transferred from the engine to the wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission for a century sprint in 5.1 seconds. In addition, there is also an electric motor that outputs 83 kW/113 hp with a peak torque of 265 Nm and offers a pure electric range of 46km.
