Check out these cool indie bookstores online for great reads delivered straight to your door during NRP

Throughout this lockdown, books have been a welcome respite from reality and a decidedly healthier way to consume content (sometimes, even you need a break from those long hours on Netflix). There's also nothing like the feeling of getting books delivered to your home. For me, the thrill of opening up their packaging, ripping off the plastic covers and getting a whiff of that new book scent equates to the feeling of Christmas coming early. With Malaysians encouraged to stay safe at home a little longer this month, we recommend ordering a good book or two from these independent online bookstores that deliver nationwide during the NRP.

Books n Bobs

Books n Bobs is a secondhand online bookshop founded by Rachel Ang with the admirable goal of making works by unknown or new authors more accessible and affordable to the masses in Malaysia. It started as a humble Facebook store in 2016 and has expanded today with an inventory of over ten thousand fiction and non-fiction titles in English and Bahasa Malaysia: from children's books and young adults titles to a section devoted entirely to local authors.

Books here are classified into five categories describing their condition: the first being Brand New titles and the others – namely Like New, Very Good, Good, Acceptable or Clearance – are all secondhand.

Tatler Tip: From now till July 5, shoppers will enjoy a flat shipping rate of RM5 and 15 per cent off secondhand titles in conjunction with Books n Bobs' fifth anniversary. Enjoy free shipping to East and West Malaysia on purchases of RM99 and above.

Lit Books

Although this minimalist bookstore has had to cut down on in-person book readings and other fun events since the pandemic, we're thrilled to see them still fulfilling online orders during the NRP, all while offering free shipping to West Malaysia with a minimum order of RM50 (or RM100 for East Malaysia). Lit Books specialises in English titles and offers a wonderfully curated selection of classic and contemporary books. Check out their Lit Reviews section for detailed analyses on trending titles.
