As the nation gears up to host the 29th SEA Games, Royal Selangor joins in the celebrations with treasure hunts, selfie-challenges, workshops and more.

After 16 years, Malaysia is once again hosting the South East Asian Games and ASEAN Para Games. The 29th Southeast Asian Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games which will be branded as Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) will take place between August 19 and 30 and September 17 to 23, respectively.

The Games will coincide with the celebration of Malaysia’s 60th Independence Day as well as Malaysia Day.

Although Malaysian sports has seen it ups and downs, the Games which will witness the participation of over 8000 athletes, will be one of the most vibrant and exciting sporting events of the year especially among sports fans who will be present to support their local sporting heroes.

Joining in the temper of sportsmanship is the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. Recognised as one of the top tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur and a global creator of pewter, Royal Selangor, is organising a series of fun-filled family friendly activities right until September 23, 2017.

For families, looking for an afternoon of fun, you can participate in the KL2017 treasure hunt. All you need to do is find all five Rimau mascot stickers hidden at the visitor centre, tick the places off the map and you will be rewarded with a free cookie at the end of the hunt.

Selfie-lovers, here’s one for you as well! Click a selfie with the KL2017 Torch or metal installation, upload the picture to your social media account with #RoyalSelangor and show the same to the tour guide at the visitor centre. On completion of the KL2017 Selfie Challenge you will be receive a RM20 gift card.

But if you want something special to remember the games by, join the School of Hard Knocks, a hands-on pewter crafting workshop where you can create your very own pewter dish with the KL2017 logo using tools similar to those used by pewter smiths more than 100 years ago.

Along with a plethora of activities, official KL2017 Games merchandise is also  available at the visitor centre ; the highlight of the collection being a replica of the KL2017 Baton which is directly inspired by the theme of the Games — Rising Together. Other merchandise includes Rimau figurines, collar pins and commemorative medals.

The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm every day, including weekends and public holidays.
