Trevi Fountain at nighttime in Rome, Italy

With Fendi's help, the Trevi Fountain restoration project was completed ahead of time and is now open to the public once again.

Travellers rejoice! Rome isn't only known for being one of the most romantic places to visit in Italy, it is also home to one of the most iconic cultural figures in history, the Trevi Fountain. The fountain has been recently restored to its splendour with the generous help of Rome-based luxury brand, Fendi, incurring a cost upwards of 2 million euros.

The grandeur of Rome was built in 1762 and stands at 85 feet high and 65 feet wide. It is also known as the largest Baroque fountain in the city as well as one of the most famous fountains in the world for all travellers to visit and toss a coin in for good luck.

One of the key features to the restoration process is the panoramic boardwalk, which is made out of transparent panels as well as being easily accessible from the square. This gives visitors a chance to admire the Trevi Fountain from a new and unique perspective while physically allowing them to be closer than ever before to the world-class artistic masterpiece.

Another key feature to the restoration process is the installation of more than 100 LED lights around the fountain to improve its nighttime illumination.

The long-lasting tradition surrounding the Trevi Fountain is the coin toss, where visitors toss a coin over their shoulders and into the fountain. This signifies that said traveller will indeed return to Rome again someday.

Up to an estimated 3,000 euros are thrown into the fountain each day, which will then go towards subsidising a supermarket for the needy around Rome.
