Datin Sabrena Dani
We followed Datin Sabrena on a ‘power’ (lunch) hour at Fuel Athletics, for a Fitness Kickstart centred on her Powerman Asia 2018 training routine, 8-hour sleep rule, favourite cheat meal, and more.
Above Datin Sabrena Dani reveals her fitness philosophy and habits in this exclusive Fitness Kickstart video.

“When I turned 30, I told myself that from now on, I’m going to be super fit. Since then, I’ve been pretty consistent.” Armed with that resolve, Datin Sabrena Dani embarked on the life-changing journey of fitness.

If you follow Datin Sabrena, one of the standouts is her super-toned, hourglass figure kitted out in coveted outfits. Her Instagram feed is a source of athleisure and designer #OOTDs oozing edgy fabulousness.

The natural on the style circuit is also a top player in the fitness arena, too. When it comes to earning that killer body, hard work is not an issue – in fact, it’s the adrenaline that’s got her hooked. Her routine comprises mummy duties to her 3-year-old Adinda, crossfit, spinning, yoga and running.

She recently participated in the Powerman Asia Duathon Championships 2018 relay category with 2 friends, and completed her 10k run in record-time, thanks to consistent training at Fuel Athletics.

Datin Sabrena’s long hours at Aloha Cycle Club have paid off too: Her spinning instructor training commenced in August 2017. “I spin a lot, I love music, and I think it’s a great way to get others into fitness,” she added. “Owners Katrina Taib and Emily asked me to consider being an instructor, and one day I decided ‘let’s do it!’”

Before a session with her coach Matin Fayzal, we did a quick warm up:

Above Fitness and family have become intertwined in Datin Sabrena Dani's life -- her secret to having it all is time management

What’s a weekly training routine like for you?

I"ll try to do 3 cardio workouts in a week: It’s either spinning or boxing. I do 2 days of weights at Fuel, and also started CrossFit last year. It’s fun because I like exercising with techniques. On weekends I try to go outdoors for bike riding."

Do you have a favourite workout?

"I don’t have a favourite because I like staying active. Ask me to try something new, I’ll do it. I enjoy CrossFit for technique, spinning for the fast-pace and music, and boxing for the intensity and movements. Yoga is calming but for core work at the same time."

How do you juggle training, family life, and everything else in between?

"If you enjoy and love something, find time for it. To me, it’s about time management. I get up early, sort out my daughter, drop her off at school, workout, eat in the car while getting from one place to another, pick up Adinda and send her to her extracurricular classes, come home, make dinner then spend time with family."

You recently did the Powerman duathon. How did you tweak your regular training for that?

"It didn’t change much but I did, I switched up my spinning and running. Maybe I go spinning once or twice a week, I ran at least 3 times a week, and 5-8km per run."

Do you believe in cheat days?

"I think it’s about balance everyday but once in awhile I have a cheat day, go on a rampage and eat what I want. The next day I’ll try work it off or completely eat clean. My favourite cheat meal is banana leaf and curries."

With so much going on, how do you clock in enough sleep to recharge for your next workout?

"I wake up quite early and am pretty much out all day. I have an early dinner at 7pm. By 8 or 8.30pm I’ll be in bed, watching TV and winding down. I make sure I have 8 hours sleep everyday so I’ll be refreshed the next."
