Luxury hotel and resort brand the Four Seasons has snatched up a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve located in the Maldives to open an ultra-secluded and exclusive private island getaway.

Set to open later this year, the Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah, Baa Atoll is pitched as the world's only exclusive-use UNESCO hideaway, located in a World Biosphere Reserve.

Inscribed in 2011, the Baa Atoll supports one of the largest groups of coral reefs in the Indian Ocean and is home to a globally significant biodiversity.

Spanning five acres, the island can sleep up to 22 guests in a seven-bedroom beach house. The property also features a dive center, spa and comes with a 62-foot (18.9-meter) yacht.

Designed in consultation with local environmental groups, the property is meant to strike a balance between man, nature and conservation. Activities include diving with whale sharks, snorkel with manta rays, swim with turtles, surf the breaks, and take sunset cruises along the Baa Atoll.

The Beach House is a double-storey resort that features an open-air living room, dining room, kitchen, pool deck, gym, library and loft lounge.

An over-water spa also offers guests a variety of therapies and rituals including yoga, meditation, high-end beauty treatments, and Rossano Ferretti hair consultant.

The island's seclusion and exclusivity are likewise sure to appeal to the rich and the famous who can throw parties and fetes far from the prying eyes of paparazzi and neighbors.

Guests can reach the island via a 40-minute seaplane transfer from the Malé International Airport, or on a 20-minute speedboat ride from the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru.

The Baa Atoll is comprised of 75 islands -- 13 of which are inhabited -- and includes the world-renowned manga feeding ground of Hanifaru Bay and the Baathala region, known for its corals, marine diversity and nesting sites for green and hawksbill turtles.

Shopping for a private island that can accommodate more than 22 guests? There's also Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands which can sleep 34 adults and is the secluded island getaway of choice for stars and their entourage.

The Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah is set to open in late 2016.
