Perhaps the biggest bombshell of all was when Schwimmer admitted that he and Aniston were crushing hard on each other during the first season. "In the first season, I had a major crush on Jen. But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary and we respected that," said Schwimmer, before being interrupted by LeBlanc who jokingly quipped: "Bull***!" 

While the two on-screen lovers never actually hooked up in real life, we now know the reason behind the sizzling chemistry between Ross and Rachel.

Chandler Bing was one of the funniest characters ever on TV but Perry had serious doubts about his comedic skill and revealed that he got really anxious when nobody in the audience laughed at his jokes during filming.

"I would sometimes say a line and they wouldn’t laugh and I would sweat and just, like, go into convulsions. If I didn’t get the laugh I was supposed to get, I would freak out. At least to me, I felt like I was going to die if they didn’t laugh," he admitted on the reunion special.

The rest of the cast appeared surprised to hear this. "You didn't tell us that. I don't remember you ever saying that," Kudrow said.

Maggie Wheeler, the actress who played fan favourite Janice on Friends, appeared briefly on the reunion show to explain why she had that laugh for her character.

"Matthew Perry is so funny, and the minute I set eyes on him and he opened his mouth I thought, 'Oh God, I’m gonna lose it, I’m gonna crack up. This character needs a laugh because I’m not gonna be able to get through a single scene with this guy'," she said. "And it was born in that moment." She then thanked Perry for inspiring the famous laugh.

Aniston was already attached to another TV show called Muddling Through when she got the part on Friends. But after shooting the pilot for Friends, she begged the producer of the former show to release her.

"I actually, with tail between my legs, hat in hand, went to the producer of the show I was on, because they hired me in second position and said, ‘Please, release me from this show. I love this show that I’m doing right now, nothing against your show. I just love these people and I am having so much fun',” she revealed.

The producer's replied: "That show's not going to make you a star." Aniston got her wish anyway when Muddling Through wasn't picked up by the network.

This revelation actually came first from LeBlanc when he recalled how he wiped off the lines Cox had written on the dining table and made her "so mad" at him when filming began. Later in the special, when Cox entered the room, she went straight for the fruit bowl on the dining table, uttering: "I had so much of my dialogue within these apples." Kudrow also revealed she would often see Cox's script in the sink.

Writers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane didn't intend for this romance to last longer than maybe a few episodes. But they changed their minds after seeing the incredible reaction the audience had when Chandler revealed it was Monica under the bedcovers with him in The One With Ross' Wedding episode.

While filming for The One Where No One's Ready episode, LeBlanc dislocated his shoulder. "I went to jump over the coffee table and somehow tripped. And my legs went up in the air and my shoulder came out of the socket," LeBlanc recalled.

They had to wait for LeBlanc's shoulder to heal before they could finish shooting the episode. Meantime, work began on the next episode, The One With The Jam, and the writers wrote LeBlanc's injury into script.
