Idris Elba

Jaguar has uploaded the first in a series of four short films documenting Idris Elba's drive from London to Berlin at the wheel of the new XE. The next installments in the series are set to debut later this month.

For his journey of around 750 miles or 1200 km, the marque's latest ambassador drives a Jaguar XE packing a 2.0L engine with 160hp. With CO2 emissions of just 99g/km, the model is the most fuel-efficient ever produced by Jaguar.

In the first video from this European road trip, Elba pays a visit to the National Youth Music Theatre in London, where he got his start as an actor, before hitting the road in the sleek black sports sedan.

Unveiled last summer at London's Earl's Court before going on display at the Paris Motor Show, the new Jaguar XE will be available in Europe later this year at a starting price of €37,000. The model is not expected to launch in the US until 2016.

The new XE stands out for its bonded and riveted aluminum construction, which makes it extremely light and strong. It is also the first Jaguar to come with electric power steering system, a feature that contributes to the car's enhanced energy efficiency.

In other news, Jaguar's abandoned hybrid supercar C-X75 will be in the upcoming James Bond film 'Spectre', starring Daniel Craig.
