Contemporary prints on decorative plates set them apart from those you find in your grandparents' homes.

Decorative plates hung on walls are no longer seen only in grandparents' homes; the trend has been gaining in popularity, and the prints and motifs seen in the latest ones range from traditional to ultra-contemporary.

 Window with a view

Why limit yourself to one window when you can have 45? Faïencerie Georges offers a collection of 45 plates with window designs. Once the ensemble is mounted on your wall, you'll be able to look into different windows, without bothering the neighbors.

 Industrial marvel

Fan of industrial landscapes? You can recreate the view of a construction site with the "Grue" collection. Made up of a 43cm dish and four 27cm plates, this collection, made of white clay and painted by hand with blue cobalt on enamel, brings together the delicate purity of line and the severity of the metal sculpture represented.

 The opulence of Versailles

Venerated French porcelain brand Bernardaud is going the traditional route with a collection inspired by Versailles. On a 36cm plate, the house depicts floral ornaments in a simple but dramatic fashion, all in immaculate white.

 Paris as the crow flies

Non Sans Raison, the French brand that revisits traditional Limoges porcelain techniques with modern flair, has invited artist Claire Brewster to design for them. She has decorated a 22-piece collection (3 serving dishes, 8 dinner plates, 8 dessert plates  and 3 bread plates with a map of Paris. Each plate also has a white cutout of a bird spread over the entire collection that highlights the white of the enamel.

"The Free Bird" is not only decorative though. Thanks to magnets fixed to the plate and the wall, the plates can be taken off the wall at will and be used before being hung back up effortlessly.

 The walls have ears

For French brand Petite Friture, designer Sam Baron has drawn inspiration from the popular saying and decorated the traditional white ceramic circles with two bunny ears. A cheeky nod to hunting trophies.
