'Winston Churchill 1874-1965 - The Death of a Hero' stamps

The collection highlights multiple facets of the historical figure, from politician, orator, wartime leader, writer, artist and even an apprentice bricklayer.

The Isle of Man has launched a series of 8 stamps celebrating the life of Winston Churchill, the iconic British head of state remembered worldwide for his role in World War II history.

It can be seen as a commemoration to the politician, who was also known to be quite the painter who escaped the rough and tumble of political life by mostly by means of a paintbrush.

Titled 'Winston Churchill 1874-1965 - The Death of a Hero', the collection highlights multiple facets of the historical figure: "the legendary politician, the great orator, the wartime leader, the soldier, the prolific writer, the talented artist and even the apprentice bricklayer."

In addition to the 50th anniversary of his death on January 24, 1965, the series commemorates the 70th anniversary of Churchill's final year as wartime Prime Minister in 1945.

The stamps can be ordered through the Isle of Man Post Office website (www.iomstamps.com). Prices range from 42 pence (RM2.26) to 110 pence (RM5.93) per stamp. A collector's sheet with all of the stamps, cancelled, is available for £6.34 (RM34.19).
