Move over Aston Martin, the 24th official James Bond film, "Spectre," is going to feature one or two very special cars built by Jaguar Land Rover, too.

When film director Sam Mendes took to the stage in December to announce the official title of and principal cast for the latest instalment of James Bond's adventures, he also took the wraps off a very special, one-of-a-kind Aston Martin, the DB10, which had been built especially for Bond.

In fact for many, the supercar proved to be the true star of the launch event for "Spectre," but now it appears that Aston Martin, despite its inextricable connection with the dashing secret agent, could well be upstaged by an equally rare Jaguar, the C-X75.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced that the Jaguar C-X75, the company's abandoned hybrid hypercar, will be taking to the screen where it will feature in a car chase sequence trough Rome racing alongside and against Bond's Aston.

The C-X75 blended jaw-dropping good looks with innovative and environmentally friendly technology, and the result was a plug-in hybrid capable of generating 850bhp flat out or of rolling silently through the city center on electric power only.

Although the hybrid approach is now the range-topping supercar standard -- see the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren P1 -- Jaguar's car was well ahead of the curve, and the costs involved in bringing it to market meant that the project was mothballed and the C-X75 never made it past the concept stage.

As well as the C-X75's role as the automotive villain of the 24th Bond film, JLR has also revealed details about two other heavily modified cars that will be making their debuts in the film -- a Range Rover Sport SVR and a Big Foot edition of the Land Rover Defender.

Developed by the company's Special Operations Division, both cars have immense 37-inch off-road tires, bespoke suspension systems, special body protection and premium Alcantara interiors.

And, although the latest Bond film won't be hitting the cinemas until October, the Land Rovers have already completed their scenes, which were filmed in Austria.
