Now that his name is one that is known to every fashion lover in the worldKarl Lagerfeld is ready to take on a new hobby – designing hotels.

The Chanel designer has announced that a 270-bedroom Karl Lagerfeld Hotel will open in 2017 in the Lisboa Palace Complex, Macau, with the design seen to completely by him. It will be developed by his own brand, Karl Lagerfeld Greater China.

“An entire hotel designed by me. It’s the first time for me! I think the idea is great!” Lagerfeld was quoted as saying in a statement.

The hotel will be a joint project between Lagerfeld and Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) a Macau casino operator company. SJM was founded by tycoon Stanley Ho, who monopolised the gambling scene in Macau until 2004.

The Lisboa Palace Complex will also be housing a Versace-themed hotel designed by the Italian fashion label on top of Lagerfeld’s own.
