Will they finally be there for us? Here is what we know about the reunion of the world's most famous group of Friends

Finally, the moment we have all been waiting for is almost here. After 17 years, the highly popular sitcom, Friends, is getting a reunion episode.

The reunion episode that fans have been waiting years for was unofficially announced on Instagram in late 2019 with a selfie posted to Instagram with the entire cast in it.

However, due to Covid-19, the taping of the special episode was delayed.

Recently, however, fans were treated to an Instagram post that actor Matthew Perry, who plays Chandler Bing, put up. The post showed the actor in a make-up chair getting ready to film the special. He included a caption that read: "Seconds before eating a make-up brush. Not to mention reuniting with my Friends.”

The post was quickly deleted but garnered about 27,000 likes and several screenshots—which will last for a lifetime thanks to the internet.

This week, however, the Friends official Instagram account shared in a post that the episode taping had wrapped and that it would be coming to HBO Max soon. It is unclear when the episode will officially air.

The special episode will see a reunion of the entire main cast which includes Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc. The stars will also all be executive producers on the episode.

While little has been released on what the episode will look like, we do know that it will be shot on the sitcom's original soundstage, Stage 24, which is on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, California.

Earlier in April, Schwimmer also appeared on The Graham Norton Show through a video link telling audiences that he was going to be boarding a plane to film the reunion episode soon.

He said: "There is nothing scripted, we're not in character. We're all ourselves, the real people,"

And with that, the show's legions of fans continue to anticipate the septet's reunion on the iconic orange couch at Central Perk or Monica's apartment.
